National Work from Home Day - Friday 18 May 2007
National Work from Home Day takes place, today, Friday, 18 May 2007 and employers and staff, both public and private sector are being encouraged to work from home to experience the benefits home working can bring, including removing the stressful daily commute and of course reducing that ever important Carbon Footprint.
A recent survey has revealed that travelling to and from work is the single biggest cause of stress for most people and Government figures estimate that 6.7 million working days are lost every year as a result of stress. The cost to UK businesses is thought to be around £3.7 billion. Forsyth Business Centres believe that a long term solution is for businesses to have a presence in regional locations.
Government figures show that over the last 20 years, the average distance travelled per person per year has increased by a huge 2,015 miles. By way of example, a high percentage of people currently make the 70 mile a day round trip from Stockton on Tees to Newcastle upon Tyne, when in fact they could be working right on their own doorstop by making use of serviced offices and facilities available in Stockton.
Commenting, Bruce Cameron, Executive Director of Forsyth says "there are huge advantages for both businesses and employees having a regional network. As well as companies saving money in rent and overheads and reducing the stress their employees encounter with long, daily commutes, they will also become more familiar with the local markets. Here at Forsyth we offer companies flexible packages to suit their individual business requirements, allowing them to decide on the number of workstations they require. Flexible agreements and leases are also likely to appeal to established and expanding companies. You may even rent one of our offices by the hour - Hot Desk it on Work from Home Day".
Forsyth have regional centres throughout the UK in Belfast, Leeds, London (Euston, Mayfair and West End), Sheffield, Teesside, Watford, Edinburgh, Rosyth, Stirling and Belfast.
