There is nothing ‘new’ about the attraction of Bracknell as a business centre

Bracknell was designated a ‘New Town’ in 1949, in the aftermath of the Second World War, however its origins can be traced back much further than that.  As early as AD 942 there was mention of the name as ‘Braccan heal’, meaning ‘Nook of land belonging to a man called Bracca’. 

The name has obviously evolved slightly since, but it was not until after the war when Bracknell grew from a small town into what it is today that its expansion really took off, far exceeding the original post-war estimates.

Nowadays Bracknell is a commercial and industrial centre to be proud of, with further regeneration being planned, which will hopefully bring the town a completely redeveloped town centre, 1,000 new homes and new police and bus stations.

This positioning between London to the South-East and Reading to the North-West, combined with Bracknell’s excellent road and rail links, means that its status as a commercial centre is assured for years to come, with expansion and outside investment continuing to work hand in hand.
